Now Celebrating its 12th year!
Actors Clubs & Play Making
More than a drama class
Our Young Actors Clubs follow a creative journey across the year.
During the Summer Term, the focus is on developing acting and performance techniques. In the Autumn and Spring Terms, these skills are put into practice with our unique Taking-The-Space Play Making Course.
They don't just learn the show. They help create it.
Rather than simply being given a finished script, young people contribute ideas, explore themes, devise characters and storylines which become the starting point for an original play, with every young person having a part written just for them. Which means no auditions and no small parts. Every young person is given a chance to shine.
Explore each session below to find out more about what happens, who it's for, when and where it takes place, and how to join.

A Multi-Term Creative Journey
The Young Actor Groups run throughout the three school terms, with different aspects of the work coming into focus across the year.
Summer Term - Develop Your Craft
The Summer term focuses on building a strong foundation of professional acting and performance techniques. Young people develop their skills, experiment with different approaches and grow in confidence as performers.
Autumn & Spring Terms - Make the Work
The Autumn and Spring terms become a creative journey through the Taking-The-Space Play Making Course. Together, the young actors explore themes, devise, improvise, create and rehearse an original performance.
Sound exciting? We hope so! But it does require commitment to the group and to the production. To achieve the high standards the groups have established over the years, there will be some mandatory weekend rehearsals during the production process.
For this reason, joining the Play Making Course requires a two-term commitment.

Who can join?
Everyone is welcome.
No previous acting experience is required. Whether your child dreams of being on stage, is already passionate about drama, or simply wants to become more confident, creative and comfortable working with others, there is a place for them.
Our aim is to meet each young person where they are — and then help them discover where they can go next.
Come and find your voice. Find your confidence. Take your space!

Three Groups. Three Stages of the Journey.
Mini Actors Club
Mondays | 4.30pm–5.30pm
Street United Reformed Church
For young people aged 6–10 years.
This lively and energetic group is all about discovering the joy of drama.
Through imaginative play, drama games and performance exercises, young actors
develop confidence, self-expression, imagination and communication skills, while
learning the foundations of acting and performance.
And there is plenty of fun along the way!
During the Play Making Course, the group explores a theme together and
contributes ideas that are developed into a performance poem — giving even our
youngest actors the chance to see their ideas brought to life on stage.

Junior Actors Club
Mondays | 5.30pm–7.00pm
Street United Reformed Church
For young people aged 10–13 years
The Junior Actors Club is a natural next step for young performers who are ready to
develop their skills further.
Alongside acting and performance techniques, young people are introduced to
devising, improvisation and character creation. Teamwork, confidence and having
fun remain at the heart of every session.
During the Play Making Course, the group explores a theme and experiments with
different ways of turning ideas into drama. They develop characters, invent situations
and improvise scenes, with their ideas ultimately being shaped into an original short
play.
They don't simply learn a play. They help create it.

Young Actors Club
Tuesdays | 5.30pm–7.30pm
Glastonbury United Reformed Church
For young people aged 14–18+ years.
A friendly, supportive and ambitious group — described by its members as a family
— the Young Actors Club is for anyone who loves acting, wants to build confidence
and communication skills, or is interested in taking their performance skills to the
next level.
It is particularly valuable for young people studying Drama at GCSE or considering
further study or a career in acting.
Sessions introduce more advanced performance techniques and professional acting
skills, while continuing to encourage experimentation, creativity and collaboration.
During the Play Making Course, the young actors are given a theme to explore and
use devising and improvisation to create their own characters, relationships and
plotlines. These ideas are then shaped into an original one-act play. The themes are
often challenging and allow the young performers to express their thoughts and
feelings about the world they are living in.
It is an opportunity to experience the complete creative journey — from the first idea
to the finished performance.
